Cafeteria

Welcome to Nutrition Services Department

Richland School District Nutrition Services Department’s priority is always to serve your children delicious, healthy, and well balanced meals in an inviting atmosphere. We take pride in serving nutritious meals every school day. Under no circumstances do we want a child to go without lunch. We participate in the National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Child & Adult Food Program and Summer Food Service Program.

Meals

All meals are planned by Richland School District Nutrition Services Director and are in compliance with all mandated State and Federal requirements. Meals focus on incorporating the following five healthy food components: protein, grain, milk, fruit and vegetable. Both Elementary & Junior High students are offered all five food groups and encouraged to take at least three components, with one of the components being either a fruit or a vegetable.

Applications

Your child may qualify for free or reduced-price meals with an approved application. The meal programs that we provide are supported by state and federal reimbursements that are based on household income and eligibility. You may apply for free or reduced price meals anytime during the school year.  Please click on the links below for additional information and the application.

Parents are asked to instruct their child not to share lunch card or number with other students.

School Site: Payments are required to be made in advance in the cafeteria (not school office). Children are required to bring payment to the cafeteria in the morning before lunch. No cash is collected during meal times.

District Office: Payments must be made before 10:00am to be applied the same day. Any payment made after 10:00 am will be applied to the student’s account the following school day. We accept cash, check or money order. We don’t accept bills larger than $50.

Negative Balance

We understand that parents are busy and may occasionally forget to pack a lunch or send in money; however the number of students with a negative balance has grown significantly. As you know, it is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to provide students with lunch or a means to pay for meals.

All payments made to the cafeteria will be applied previously to charged meals first (if any), then as a prepayment for future meals.

Parents must pay for school meals until the lunch application is processed.

Negative Balances must be paid regardless of an eligibility change to a “Free” status, since the charges accumulated prior to the status change.

Notification of Negative Balance

Parents will receive a weekly phone call, to the primary phone number that is listed on the schools data base.

Monthly Charge Letters will advise of any negative balance owed on student’s account. They will be printed at end of each month   and distributed to the student’s homeroom to be sent home.
